OAKLAND: 81st AVE. BRANCH LIBRARY, 1021 81st AVE.
SATURDAY, MAY 11
The Oakland workshop program included:
* Messages from Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and State Sen. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley
* A performance by 2018 Oakland Youth Poet Laureate Leila Mottley
* An update about Constitutional Amendment ACA-1, which would allow future library ballot measures to pass with a 55% vote
* A panel of Oakland library advocates from multiple groups -- the Friends nonprofit org, Library Commission, Branch Friends and a grass-roots group -- who will talk about how they joined forces to share resources, strategize, and amplify their message to the community (and how that collaboration helped get a parcel tax approved in June 2018).
